Some of the personal touches at our wedding. mhmm :) |
Today I was in my very last ever lecture of university, it happened to be a PR lecture and we had the head of careers with us, talking about next steps. She asked the whole class what we would do, what career we would choose, if we knew we wouldn’t fail. Everyone took a while to think this through. Some people had no idea what they wanted to do, other people were so sure of the niche career they were pursuing. When we had all taken a few minutes to think about it and talk it over with those around us, we had to share with the class. My thoughts drifted in three directions. I thought I would share these, share my passions:
PR- taking this module has shown me that my ENTP (take the test) traits have a place in this world, and it has really opened my eyes to a career that I’ve never thought about before. I love the idea of working in a busy environment, relying heavily on interpersonal skills and creative ideas- I’ve even applied for internships.
Craft- I’m guessing you figured this one out already. The thing I love about craft, and running craft workshops is that its so accessible. People think they can’t, but nearly always they can. I love the way creative confidence effects all-round confidence. Im a particularly big fan of DIY wedding craft.
Blogging- My hero is Elsie of A Beautiful Mess, I love that blog and pretty much everything they do. Blogs are great ways of communicating something to a lot of people, more than you could at a craft workshop and with more ease than writing a book. It combines words, photography and original ideas.
So could I combine these?
PR is very much a part of blogging, especially if you are hoping to grow and profit from your blog. I could have a blog that focuses on wedding based craft, and perhaps a bit of adventure thrown in for good measure (theres lots of craft blogs, but I’ve never seen anyone combine this with wild camping). I have no idea how that can happen apart from hard work. I still love the face to face nature of workshops, so maybe I could start doing workshops and consultations for wedding crafts. Helping people make the guests favours, or hair combs for the bridesmaids….
Im just thinking out loud.
I suppose in a years time we will see what direction my life took.
And then I’ll write another blog post.
But what I'm most interested in is if you took the personality test, pretty please share your results!
YES! love this. and I'm excited for DIY wedding craft dates with you soon ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe'll be okay as long as your organising ... ;) x
DeleteCongrats on finishing your last lecture! That is a great question about career choice, definitely something I'm going to have to give some thought to. I've always been back and forth, unable to figure out what I really want to do. I really like your blogging ideas though, and hope to start to see them unfold on here :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way I took the test & am an ENFP. Very interesting, but didn't help too much to figure out what career might suit me!
I think we are really similar, indecisive, did similarly vague uni courses and we have the same test score except you are more feeling than me (ie. nicer than me). My best friend is also ENFP. Often it means you need a career that allows you to be creative and generate ideas, to work in a team and interact with other people, you can understand abstract knowledge so it doesn't necessarily need to be something practical. Ha, maybe you too should look into PR. xx
DeleteLove the idea of thinking about what we would do if we knew we could not fail. Loved hearing your ideas, so cool! I've taken the test before too and found out I am an INFJ. (Found your post through the Jack of All Trades Link-Up :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, i've never someone who falls into INFJ before. I looked it up and apparently you guys make up less than 1% of the population (that might be why). Thanks for stopping by! x
DeleteI'm an INFJ, I had the test done through a management course through work. I love the articles you can find based on this personality test.
DeleteElsie is amazing, isn't she!? I remember reading her blog a few years ago when I was new to everything. She inspired me to start my own. Congrats on finishing your last lecture!
ReplyDeleteEsther you can do anything that you put your mind to! It's so beautiful that you've identified your passions now you just need to chase them with tenacity. Best of luck in your journey ahead and congratulations on attending your last lecture. I found your blog from the Jack of All Trades Linkup.

Hi there, stopping by from the Jack of All Trades link-up :) Congrats on finishing your last lecture! I hope you find a career avenue that fits you and brings you plenty of happiness!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am a recent grad too! I really love this quote by Stephen Fry and I think it goes well with your post
ReplyDelete“Oscar Wilde said that if you know what you want to be, then you inevitably become it - that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything. There is a truth to that. We are not nouns, we are verbs. I am not a thing - an actor, a writer - I am a person who does things - I write, I act - and I never know what I am going to do next. I think you can be imprisoned if you think of yourself as a noun.”
Good Luck!! You never have to be one thing!
Thanks, what a great quote! I love the idea that I am a free person- I can pursue what brings me joy. I just have to make money from it too ;)
